How to get on-brand work out of Claude (give it your brand as a file)

Claude is great at design and content, until it doesn't know your brand. Here's how to feed Claude your brand with a single file, so the output is on-brand and you skip the back-and-forth.

Claude has become a genuinely useful tool for design and content work. It can draft copy, build a landing page, generate an artifact, sketch a layout. The catch is the same as with any AI tool: out of the box, Claude does not know your brand. So the first draft is competent and generic, and you spend the next twenty minutes re-explaining your colours, your voice, and your rules. There is a faster way.

The problem: Claude does not know your brand yet

Ask Claude to make something for your brand and it will make something good in general, not something right for you, because it has nothing to go on. You can describe your brand in the chat, but you will do it from memory, a little differently each time, and you will do it again tomorrow in a new conversation. That re-briefing is the tax you pay for the AI not having your brand in front of it.

The fix: hand Claude your brand as context

The fix is to give Claude your brand once, as a single block of context it can read, and reuse it every time. There are two ways to get that file.

The do-it-yourself way. Write a brand context file by hand: a Markdown document with your voice rules, your exact colours and type, your dos and don'ts, and your key messaging. Keep it somewhere you can paste from. This works, and it is worth doing if you have one brand and some patience. The downside is that you have to assemble it, and then keep it current by hand, which is the part that quietly rots.

The generated way. If your brand lives in Brand Atlas, that file already exists. ATLAS.md is your whole brand exported as a single Markdown file, built for exactly this. It regenerates when the brand changes, so you are never pasting a stale version.

How to use it with Claude

However you got the file, the workflow is the same.

Paste or attach the brand file at the start of the conversation. Better still, keep it in a Claude Project, so every chat in that project already has the brand in context.

Then ask for the work normally: write three launch captions, build a pricing page, draft a welcome email. Because the brand is already in context, what comes back is on-brand on the first try, not the third.

For builders, the same file drops into Claude Code, Cursor, or any tool that takes context, so the brand travels into the actual build, not just the chat.

What you actually save

The saving is the re-briefing. No more describing your blue, your tone, and your rules at the top of every conversation. No more editing generic drafts back toward your brand by hand. You give the tool the brand once, and the first draft is already close. Over a week of AI work, that is hours back, and output that sounds like you instead of like the median of the internet.

Claude is only as on-brand as the context you give it. Hand it your brand as a file and it stops guessing. You can build that file yourself, or let Brand Atlas keep it current for you as ATLAS.md, generated from your live brand. Either way the rule is the same: brief the tool with your brand, and the work comes back yours. See how ATLAS.md works.
